LI Country Star Winner, Renee D’Angelo Drops The Mic

Renee D’Angelo

Growing up on Long Island, NY, Renee D’Angelo knew at a young age that music was her life. Before she was able to talk, she was singing songs on the radio and putting on performances for her family. At the age of 6, her parents decided it was time to take Renee to singing lessons. From there, she started performing and competing. Her parents built her a studio in their house and she started recording cover songs.

At the age of 8, Renee was picked for the first round of the American Juniors. At the age of 10, Renee was a contestant of the Fashion Rock Spring Fest competition. Out of 500 kids, Renee was picked 1 out of 5 contestants and got 3rd place.

When Renee was 13 years old, She started seeing Don Lawrence in the city for vocal lessons. Renee also started taking guitar lessons and writing her own music. That same year, Renee was a contestant in the Apollo Theater Amateur Night and won second place.

At the age of 16, Renee started developing her talent as a songwriter. She would sit and write songs based on her life for hours. Renee knew that if she wrote a song, she wanted it to come from the heart.

At the age of 18, Renee got over her fear of playing her original songs in front of audiences and started playing again. She played open mics, and acoustic shows. She grew her connections and started writing with a co-writer.

Renee has sold some of her songs in Nashville. She is always performing shows and recording. This past May, Renee dazzled the crowd and the judges at Rudi’s Bar & Grill in Patchogue and won Long Island’s Next Big Country Star-A My Country 96.1 Radio music competition. She won a spot at The Pennysaver Amphitheater and opened for Lee Brice at The Fest. Her new EP Jameson & Jack is available on iTunes now!
