Flynn’s Fire Island Rides Craft Beer Wave with First Festival


(Fire Island, NY. July 14, 2014) Flynn’s Fire Island is getting ready to heat up for its first ever Craft Beer Festival on August 16th, 2014. Come out and celebrate the best of what the summer has to offer with some of the best brews and best views. The festival takes place on Flynn’s scenic bay front setting and will offer over 50 craft beers from across the country. This is a rain or shine event so dress accordingly.

“My brother, cousin, and I started Fire Island Beer Co. a few miles west of Flynn’s in Atlantique,” said Fire Island Beer Co. founder Bert Fernandez. “We’re really excited to share two of our passions with everyone: beer and Fire Island.”

Aside from local favorite Fire Island Beer Company, other breweries participating in the festival will be Bay Shore’s own Great South Bay, Boston Beer Co. better know as Sam Adams, and some of the off-centered offerings from Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. “Flynn’s Restaurant and Marina is very excited to host our first craft beer event this August”, said Luke LaPenna, Director of Operations at Flynn’s, “As a legacy bar and restaurant with over 75 years serving beer on the south shore, we consider ourselves lucky to be surrounded by such talented beer craftsmen here on Long Island, and the surrounding area.”

Attendees will be treated to a complimentary sandwich and side dish with paid admission. Sandwich options include a hamburger, hot dog, chicken sandwich, or veggie sandwich. Side dish options include potato salad, corn on the cobb, pasta salad, green salad, or fries. Still hungry? No worries, as food will be available for purchase, including Flynn’s famous raw bar to fill you up as you spend your day sampling. So whether you want to wash up with a wheat beer, hang-ten with a hefeweizen, or paddle out with a pale ale, this is shore to be the be an afternoon for the ages.

Tickets are $50 +tax when purchased online in advance. Tickets are $65 when purchased at the door on the day of festival if not sold out. Doors open at 1:00pm, first pour is at 1:30pm. This is a 21+ event and proper ID is required upon entry. No children or pets will be permitted. Parking at Ferry Terminal will be extremely limited so attendees are strongly encouraged to use mass transit. Fire Island Ferry will be $17 round trip. A Chinese auction will also be held to help benefit The Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Tickets and additional information are available at, get them before the tide washes them away.
